Updated Mask Policy 3-6-2022

TO: NUMC Members, Staff, and Visitors:

With the recent change in COVID-19 masking guidance by the CDC and the lifting of the Delaware COVID-19 State of Emergency including lifting the mandatory masking requirement for public and private schools, and given that the three counties (New Castle, DE, Cecil, MD, and Chester, PA) that NUMC primarily serves are in the LOW COVID-19 Community Level, the Newark United Methodist Church (NUMC) Trustees are instituting changes in the building COVID-19 masking requirements: :

Change in NUMC COVID-19 Masking Policy:

  • Wearing of masks will be optional for all NUMC members, staff, and visitors within the building (including Sunday worship services and fellowship times) with one exception:
    • For the present, for Sunday School activities, NUMC will still require masking for volunteers, teachers, and children over kindergarten age and encourage masking for children under kindergarten age.
  • If for any reason, members, staff, and visitors feel more comfortable continuing to wear a mask, they are encouraged to do so as a personal preference.
  • Social distancing continues to be encouraged in all building spaces including within the pews of the sanctuary.
  • These changes are effective Sunday, March 6, 2022.
