Pecometh 20K Challenge

Pecometh is a part of the Peninsula Delaware Annual Conference.  Its mission is to “provide sanctuary for Christian hospitality and programming that inspire God-inspired, life-changing experiences through camp and retreat ministries.” Many of you have spent summer camp there, been to retreats, etc.  What a special sanctuary for spiritual growth! As you can imagine, 2020 has been a challenging year.  Although the retreat part of Pecometh’s ministry is back up and running, the 2020 summer camps were not able happen because of Covid-19.  Undaunted, the camp staff have found ways to stay connected virtually with the camping community and their families.   You may have noticed the announcement in Newark UMC’s weekly e-news for Pecometh’s “Parenting through Pandemic” program offered in September and October. The Church Council has identified Pecometh as a ministry focus as we close out 2020.  The Council has set a goal of $20,000.  Thanks to your faithful prior giving in support of the ministries and mission of Newark UMC, $10,000 has been already been designated toward this goal.  Newark UMC’s Church Council challenges the congregation to match or exceed the $10,000 already designated through additional giving beginning November 1 and ending December 1.
