The following was published by the Peninsula-Delaware Conference as an announcement of the Bishop’s new appointment for Pastor Tina Blake.
Bishop Peggy Johnson would like to announce the appointment of the Rev. Christina (Tina) Blake as the District Superintendent for the Salisbury District of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference effective January 1, 2020. She follows the Rev. Rob Townsend, who will be the new Director of Connectional Ministries at the Conference Office effective January 1, 2020.
She is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a B.A. in Human Development and received her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University. Rev. Tina answered her call to ministry at the 2000 Peninsula-Delaware Annual Conference. She enrolled in Wesley Theological Seminary in the fall of 2000 where Bishop Johnson served as one of her seminary professors. At that same time, she began an internship at Kent Island UMC and is thankful for the profound role they had in preparing her for ministry. Rev. Tina graduated from Wesley with a M.Div. (2004) and was ordained an elder in 2007. She served the Church Hill-Price Charge, Church Hill, Md., Grace UMC in Cambridge, Md., and Newark UMC, Newark, Del.
God has blessed her with gifts of teaching and preaching with a huge heart for people. She believes it is important to meet people where they are at all times and in all places and to exemplify the love and grace of Christ in both word and deed. She accepts her new role as Superintendent in joyful obedience to God.
In addition to serving the local churches, Rev. Tina has served on various district committees on ministry and superintendency. She has also served as Treasurer on the Board of Ordained Ministry, as pastoral advisor for Conference Council on Youth Ministries, and also on the worship committee for Conference Sessions. Married to Marty Pratt since 1987, they have two adult children and enjoy traveling, spending time with friends and appreciating God’s blessings.
