Choirs

The choirs of NUMC comprise four ensembles that rehearse weekly from September through June. They combine throughout the year to sing as one ensemble for seasonal services, Vespers, and festivals.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is an adult (beyond high school) choir that rehearses from 7:15-9:00 p.m. on Thursdays from September through June. The choir sings a wide range of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass (SATB) and SATB-Divisi music, both accompanied and a cappella. Its repertoire spans the centuries, from the Renaissance to the present day. Youth Chorale

This choir is for youth in grades 7-12 and rehearses from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Sundays from September through June. Choristers in the Youth Chorale use the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) curriculum “Voice for Life,” which focuses on age-appropriate vocal training, sight-singing, and music theory. Choristers sing a mix of two-part mixed, SAB, and SATB music. Ned Perwo is the Youth Chorale director. Crusader Choir

The Crusader Choir is for children in grades 4-6 and rehearses from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Sundays from September through June. Choristers use the RSCM curriculum “Voice for Life,” which focuses on age-appropriate vocal training, sight-singing, and music theory. Choristers sing a mix of unison and two-part music. Lys Murray is the Crusader Choir director.  Registration form

Carol Choir

The Carol Choir is for children in grades 1-3 and rehearses from 10:30-11:00 a.m. on Sundays from September through June. Children spend time strengthening their singing voices, developing their sense of rhythm, and learning age-appropriate repertoire. Choristers sing primarily unison music.
