ROF Phase A (2016) Project Approved

artist’s rendering of front of proposed new welcoming centerOn Sunday, March 13, 2016, the NUMC Renewing Our Foundation program took another major step forward. The $1.4 million Phase A (2016) project to open a new welcoming door to the community was unanimously approved by church members assembled at the Church Conference.

The major scope elements of the project include the following:

  • New Delaware Avenue Welcome Center entry with chair lift/handicap accessibility
  • Upgrades to the Delaware Avenue lot and east side handicapped parking involving surface renovation and reconfiguration for additional spaces
  • Addition of an instrument enclosure and audio/visual upgrades to Heritage Hall for increased flexibility and usability to enhance SonSpirit and fellowship experiences
  • Renovations to six Education Wing restrooms
  • Sanctuary lighting improvements for better illumination, “scene” settings, and easier maintenance

The planned project schedule is as follows:

  • Welcome Center construction – June 2016 to February 2017 (marble entrance will be primary entrance)
  • Heritage Hall (HH) upgrades – June to July 2016 (SonSpirit in sanctuary)
  • Restroom renovations – June to August 2016
  • Sanctuary lighting changes – August to September 2016 (Sunday services in HH)

The ROF(2) Capital Campaign has been extremely successful with pledged contribution now totaling $845,000. This has significantly reduced the size of the planned long-term financing loan required to complete the project.
