Thursday evening prayer service

The weeknight prayer service is now held on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. in the Chapel. This group will meet again on March 8th.

Lenten Taizé service

Each Wednesday during Lent, a Taizé service is held at 7 p.m. in the Chapel.

It’s Cookie Time!

Troop 136 is once again selling Girl Scout Cookies! They will be in Cokesbury lobby from 7:45-12:15 on Sunday, March 4, 2018. This is your last weekend Girl Scouts in this area will be selling cookies, so stock your freezer now! (Cash, check, and credit cards accepted)

UMW/GREEN Team Mission Project – Hygiene kit collection

Westside Family Health offers over 800 hygiene kits (600 for men) in their outreach to migrant and seasonal agricultural workers each year. Boxes will be in Cokesbury Lobby and the Marble entrance from March 4-April 8.Thank you for helping us in this outreach to the migrant and seasonal agricultural workers. Soup’s On! (Newark Methodist Preschool fundraiser)

The Newark Methodist Preschool is hosting a fundraising event at Panera Bread – Main Street on Monday, March 5th from 4-8pm. Enjoy dinner out at one of our local restaurants and help the preschool earn money toward materials and supplies!  This flyer must accompany purchase for the Preschool to benefit.

No more dishtowels needed!

The downstairs kitchen is now well stocked with dishtowels/cloths. Thank you for your contributions, from the United Methodist Women.

Got books?

… and calendars? The Outreach Team is collecting books and 2018 calendars for folks at the Newark Manor. This collection will end on March 11th. There also is a need for gently-used children’s books for the Empowerment Center – all ages (through high school!) Please leave donations of books and calendars in the main office.

Also, please keep in mind that the Bunting Library Used Book Event will be held in Memorial Lounge on April 29th and May 6th. Now is a GREAT time to clean off your bookshelves!  Drop off used books (good condition) in a labeled bag in the library.

UMCOR Sunday is March 11th

This once-a-year special offering covers all administrative costs for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), so 100% of any donation given through the year for disaster relief goes directly to the people affected. Last year, NUMC contributed $1330 to UMCOR Sunday. Special envelopes for this year’s collection can be found in the bulletin on March 11th, or you can give online through this page by clicking on the “Donate Now” button. Be sure to type “UMCOR Sunday” in the field marked “Other donations.”

Program year registrations

Register for Sunday school/children choirs [ online Sunday school registration / online choirs registration]. Sunday school print registration forms can be found in Cokesbury Lobby and on the ushers’ tables.

Extending our hospitality on Sunday mornings

Sunday morning greeters are needed!  Can you sign up here for just one week per month? Sign-up posters also appear in Cokesbury Lobby and in the Welcome Center.

Food Cupboard update

Items needed this week: hearty soups, protein meals with pop-tops (e.g., Chef Boyardee), mayonnaise (not large)
