Baptism Baptism is the sacrament of initiation into the body of Christ, the church, which joins the new member with Christians everywhere. It’s the beginning of a lifelong process of growth in Christ and can be received only once. Baptism is a sign, a promise from God and a new beginning.
The purpose of baptism is to: • incorporate new members into the church, to promote their spiritual growth • identify the recipient as a baptized Christian • signify death, rebirth and new life • assure us that our sins are forgiven Baptisms are usually arranged to take place during the 11:00am worship service. To schedule a baptism, please call the Senior Pastor at 302-368-8774. Weddings Marriage is intended by God to be a creative relationship. God’s blessing enables the couple to love and support each other in good times and bad. For Christians, marriage is an invitation to share life together in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. It is based upon a solemn, public and lifelong covenant, made and celebrated in the presence of God and before a pastor and congregation. In the United Methodist tradition, the wedding service is a full worship service including Proclamation of the Word as prayer and praise. Weddings are scheduled with the Senior Pastor at 302-368-8774. After making arrangements with the Senior Pastor, the couple will receive a brochure in the mail that contains information about their wedding service, wedding counseling sessions, fees, music, photos, wedding coordinator, flowers, bulletins, etc. This will include a form to be completed by the couple and returned to the church to provide information to prepare for the ceremony. |
