Membership Committee Sub-Teams Community Events The mission of this sub-team is to make NUMC’s presence and spirit known in the community by coordinating our participation in community events such as Newark Community Day, Halloween on Main Street, Winterfest, Newark Nite, etc.
First Contact Hospitality The mission of this sub-team is to do whatever it takes to make guests feel welcome; e.g., recruiting and training Sunday greeters (for inside our many church entrances and also for greeting and directing people to alternate parking when our lots are overflowing), coordinating the supply of church mugs filled with cookies for first-time guests, etc. Membership Database This sub-team maintains the church’s database and can help the other sub-teams understand how the church’s database can be used to facilitate their various roles.
New Member Orientation This sub-team will reach out to those who indicate on the Friendship Pads that they are interested in joining our church and will coordinate with the pastors to provide the New Members’ Orientation 2-3 times a year.
Shepherding This sub-team matches new members with current UNMC members who help them become familiar and feel comfortable with the church.
Membership Recognition This sub-team recognizes members who are celebrating milestones in their lives, have achieved a goal, received an honor or award, or may be leaving our church area.
Outreach to High School Graduates This sub-team will help us maintain contact with a critical segment of our membership – those who are within five years of high school graduation.
Congregational Connections This sub-team coordinates with the Database team to identify and communicate with members who have been absent for a time to determine if there is anything the NUMC family can do to help. Fellowship Time This team manages the coffee and refreshment time at 10:30 (between the 9:30 and 11:00 services). |
